Midi Minuit / Maison Tangible
Illustration by Bruno Mangyoku for the Midi Minuit exhibition at Maison Tangible.
Bruno Mangyoku trained in animation filmmaking at the Gobelins in Paris and simultaneously pursued his career as an animation film director and illustrator, both with great success.
Though his illustrations are undeniably influenced by his love of the cinema, the work of this French-Japanese artist also shows his admiration for the American cartoonists of the independent scene of the 90s and 2000s such as Daniel Clowes, Charles Burns and Adrian Tomine. Bruno Mangyoku draws his colorful universe in a pop style where the emphasis is on the characters rather than the scenery.
