Gwendal Le Bec, a French artist based in Paris, graduated from the Duperré School of Graphic Design in 2008 before embarking on his career as an illustrator. He swiftly earned recognition for his first collaboration with Pierre Richard on Le Petit Blond avec un mouton blanc, a children's book inspired by Le Grand Blond avec une chaussure noire, published by Gallimard Giboulées. Shortly afterwards, Le Roi des Oiseaux was published by Albin Michel Jeunesse, and won the Pépite award for best album at the 2011 Montreuil Book Fair. A series of books followed, published by Albin Michel Jeunesse, Gallimard Jeunesse, P'tit Glénat, Le Seuil Jeunesse in France, Comme des Géants in Quebec and Walker Books and Flying Eye Books in the UK.
His tender, amusing style has opened the doors of international press titles such as The New York Times, The Guardian, New York Magazine, The Sunday Times, Frankfurter Allgemeine Quarterly, Vanity Fair, Bloomberg Magazine, Le Monde, L'Obs...And led him to work with many well-known brands such as Google (including a 7-year collaboration in which he produced thousands of illustrations for the Google Primer application), Netflix, Quora, Hermès, Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Allianz, The Hoxton Hotel, Le Mirazur, Warby Parker, etc...
As a multidisciplinary artist, his paintings have been exhibited in Brussels and Seoul, and he is working on his first comic book, to be published by Casterman in 2025.
